Lara Morar is a German-Romanian writer, actress and multidisciplinary artist based in Europe. With a strong inclination for comedy and golden age cinema, her focus lies on exploring nostalgia in modern times. She also likes to experiment with the use of several languages and exploring bilingualism in her work.
On account of her parents, who are both working in the creative field, Lara was exposed to the arts from an early age: Her name, that originated from Julie Christie's portrayal of Lara Antipova in the 1965 movie Doctor Zhivago foreshadowed her own wish to become an actress. Since then, she has expanded into pursuing a career both in and behind the stagelight, using the several mediums at her disposal to tell stories.
Lara wrote her first scenario when she was only five years old, which was about a foreign girl traveling the Romanian countryside with her wolfdog. From that time onwards, storytelling became her own way of navigating through the world.
In her hometown Cologne, she soon felt inspired to experiment in front of the camera and on stage, joined the ballet and appeared in local theaters - as humans, creatures and sometimes even abstract art installations. She always had great pleasure in portraying the latter and as a voice actress she lent her voice to many interesting characters.
As she got older, Lara learned to play several instruments and with increasing musical skill, she started writing songs. She appeared in regional concerts and events and as she grew more experienced in the field, she also gave busking a try; the proceeds being donated to her favorite non profit organization in Romania.
After graduating Gymnasium, Lara was able to gain precious experiences in the film and television industry, where she developed a sense for space, movement and presence in front of the camera. Additionally, she attended the Josef Metternich School of Music from 2012 to 2020.
Lara has completed two years of theatre studies and Acting in English at Cours Florent Paris. Within the Cours Florent, she has won third place in the annual eloquence contest of 2023 for the International department and starred in the show “Girls, Girls, Girls (and a few boys)" directed by Tanya Mattouk. Now she is continuing her education moving into literature, aspiring to publish and put on her plays. She will continue to work as an actress.
Aside from the arts, she is ardent about environmentalism and animal welfare.
